It is Sydney Bridge Centre’s mission to enrich players’ life through bridge, whether they are looking for the joy of keeping their mind sharp, extending their social circle, self-improvement and/or continuous learning.
There is still some uncertainty in front of us. Sydney Bridge Centre will decide the club programmes and event calendar as the situation develops. We appreciate your understanding to help us to find this balance – to have appropriate measures to keep us safe, while continuing our game to enjoy certain quality of life.
We will definitely schedule Beginners and Improvers Courses, Workshops, fun events and competitions this year.

***NEW COMPETITION***
We are launching an Individual Championship with SIX divisions.
Each division will run from 1st July (yes, it has started) to the 30th November, and each winner will receive $100 Prize Money (split if a tied score) at the Christmas Party in December.
In each Division, we will count your 10 BEST results from 1/7/19 to 30/11/19. You play more than that, and the worst scores get dropped off. You do not need to play with the same partner. All scores in the appropriate sessions count!
The divisions will be by your Masterpoint Ranking as of the 30th November. However, some Players may be reallocated if unfairly ranked incorrectly, such as players who previously played extensively overseas.
There are TWO divisions for the Supervised Sessions:
– Nil & Graduate Ranks
– Club Rank
There are FOUR divisions for the Open Sessions:
– Nil, Graduate & Club Ranks
– Local, *Local, **Local Ranks
– Regional, *Regional, State, *State Ranks
– National & above Ranks
All OPEN club sessions will be included except Monday Night at Rozelle & Thursday Night & Sunday Games in the City. Selected small field sessions will also be excluded.

STATE MIXED PAIRS QUALIFYING EVENTS
STATE MIXED PAIRS QUALIFYING EVENTS in APRIL & MAY
We are planning a 3 session (1 session each week) at each venue, with the best 2 of 3 results counting… Highest Total wins!
We will want to give FREE ENTRY to TWO pairs from EACH venue’s event to the STATE MIXED PAIRS FINAL which will be held in Goulburn St at the end of May. The winning Pairs can be Members or Visitors, but of course they Must be Mixed Pairs.
These will all be RED MP sessions, and only the SAME Mixed Pairs will count – no substitutions, as it will be a “Best 2 of 3 Week” event. You will be considered “Contending” if you only play in any 2 of the 3 weeks.
No pre-entry will be needed, but there will be a surcharge above the normal table money each week.
All other Pairs are welcome to play & will receive any RED MPs they are entitled to, but will be considered “Non-Contending”.
Plus, if anyone who competed (Contending or Non-Contending) but did not get a FREE entry, and would still like to form a Mixed Pair to enter, if they form a Pair from among the Players who competed in the SBC Qualifiers (at any of the venues), and are happy to enter as a SBC Mixed Pair, they can do so through us at $30 off the normal entry fee. That would be for an $90 Entry Fee instead of the advertised $120 Entry Fee. Conditions will apply, so talk to us if you would like to put a pre-entry in through us.

GNOT QUALIFYING EVENTS
We will be running a 3 week GNOT QUALIFIER on Thursdays at 10am from 7 to 21 March at Goulburn St.
This will be a GOLD MPs event.
You can just come & play. There will be no pre-registration needed, but there will be a surcharge above the normal table money each week. This will likely be a 5 board BUTLER event, but the finer details are to be confirmed as yet. We think this will be open to all players, Members or Visitors, all have the chance to win and become part of a Team that we will pay for to enter the Metro Final.
We are hoping to put on cheese and biscuits at the end of each of the 3 sessions.
Plus, if anyone who competed but did not make the FREE team, and would still like to form a team to enter, if they form a team from among the Players who competed the SBC Qualifier, and are happy to enter as a SBC team, can do so through us at $40 off the normal entry fee. Conditions will apply, so talk to Mick or Wing if you would like to put a pre-entry in through us, after the event has run.

All Players will receive a chocolate.
Normal sessions will be played, so come along, enjoy some fun Bridge with our other lovely Players, and receive a “Thank You” chocolate.
“MENS PAIRS” & “WOMENS PAIRS” CHAMPIONSHIP in February
This Club Championship event will be held over 4 TUESDAYS in Feb at 10am at Goulburn St. This event is part of the normal Tuesday Sessions, with the applicable competing Same-sex Pairs results to be extracted from the sessions’ results over the month.
To be considered eligible to contend, play at least three sessions in a (single) Same-sex partnership. All contending players must be SBC members in this event. Your best 3 results will count. Anyone going to the Gold Coast Congress can still compete this. Everyone (Mixed, Visitors & Non-Contending) is welcome to play any or all of the sessions at no extra charge. These sessions will be RED POINT sessions, and any MPs earned by all will be RED, whether they are considered contending the Championship or not.
You do not have to register for this. Just come and compete.
We will do our best to post Progressive results each week. The week of the GCC may not have results posted that week.
