This half-day Education seminar will run in the SBC clubroom (Friday 16/10/26) from 10-00am until 12-30pm. Steve will introduce the topic then work through eight hands. At the end of the session, Steve will summarise the lesson, reinforcing the key takeaways.
October 16th – Gathering the Evidence
Some hands will play themselves. We will win, draw trumps and then take our winners and cross-ruff. However, many hands will give us a choice “Do we finesse in trumps or do we play for the drop? Who has the Queen of Clubs? Did I overbid or can I blame partner…?” Whereas often we will need to just fall back on the percentages and take a fifty-fifty finesse, oftentimes there will be clues from the auction, the defence or the play of other suits which will tell us the best way to play a key suit. This lesson focuses on gathering and then interpreting the information that is available to us on nearly every hand. The workshop introduces skills and techniques of cardplay that any intermediate or advanced cardplayer should develop.
